ROAD KILL

BLUE JAY, 36" x 29" x 26"

One million wild animals are killed on U.S. roads EVERY DAY. To honor and mourn the violent deaths on my road, I spray painted sillouettes of the animals at the murder sites with the accompanying epitaph, "Hit and Run Murder". After photographing the scene I would move the animal off the road.

As an extension of this project I made large papier mache wall pieces of four of the animals, blue jay, fox, squirrel and racoon.
